The baby, named Teagan clamps his older brother’s finger while nursing for the first time. Teagan is allowed to "rout" and find the nipple on his own. If the baby does not successfully reach the nipple within an hour, the midwife will then help.
Laura's husband, Jason, waits near a cooler holding Laura's placenta. The placenta will be taken and process into dehydrated capsules that Laura will take in the preceding months. This is thought to help mitigate the side effects from the dramatic drop in hormones after birth which have been associated with baby blues and postpartum depression.
